17 Nov – If you've enjoyed the "Fast and Furious" movies but sometimes wish one of your favourite characters will have a chance to lead his or her own movie that is still part of the franchise's universe, then your wish just might be coming true. The popular drag racing action movie franchise is expanding its cinematic universe with spinoffs and prequels, according to Variety. "We've written out story lines for various characters," said franchise star, Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the movie series. "We've been playing with it for a long time. It's a very rich property and we're committed to treating it with a lot of class." It was not revealed whose character will be given a spinoff exactly, though one of fans' favourites – Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs, might get one since Johnson himself has previously voiced his interest for solo adventures for the Diplomatic Security Service agent. While fans await further details, in the meantime, they can look forward to the eight instalment in the franchise, tentatively named "Fast and Furious 8". F. Gary Gray ("Straight Outta Compton") will be helming the upcoming movie, which is set to be first in the final trilogy of the series. Though with the spinoffs and prequels in the making, looks like the three movies in the trilogy will not be the last to come out of the franchise. "Fast and Furious 8" is expected to drive onto the big screens in the U.S. on 14 April 2017.
