This is why "Puli" is delayed

Vijay leads the Tamil fantasy film, "Puli".

1 Oct – Tamil star Vijay's latest film, "Puli" has been facing tough times with its release scheduled for today as it faces an untimely delay.

Early morning and premiere shows in India as well as overseas have been put on a halt despite is being initially scheduled for release on 1 October 2015.

The Business Standard says that the producers and financiers of the film have faced a raid yesterday by income tax officials, hence they have not been given the greenlight to pay the exhibitors of the film to screen the movie.

First Post via IANS says that even the film's leading star Vijay's house was raided.

Apparently, the raid was carried out following reports that some of the investments made for "Puli" were unaccounted for.

Atmus Entertainment, the film's distributor in Canada and U.S. also verified via their Twitter that the premiere shows were cancelled in those territories.

In Malaysia, the local distributor Lotus Five Star says that they are still awaiting the greenlight to screen the movie from the Indian distributor. They are hoping for the movie to be allowed for screening later today.

"Puli" is directed by Chimbu Deven. The film stars Vijay, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani.
