"Transformers 4" earns most Razzie nominations

Paramount Pictures' "Transformers: Age of Extinction".

14 Jan – While "Transformers 4" may have impressed at the box office, the folks over at the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation think it deserves the most nominations at this year's Golden Raspberry Awards.

An award ceremony held in recognition of the worst, instead of the best as other Hollywood awards tend to be, has nominated the fourth film in the "Transformers" franchise for seven Razzies categories.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction", LA Times reports, is nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Supporting Actor for Kelsey Grammer, Worst Supporting Actress for Nicola Peltz, Worst Sequel, Worst Screen Combo, Worst Screenplay and Worst Director for Michael Bay.

This marks the fifth time for Bay to be nominated Worst Director, a repeat offender since his 1998 "Armageddon", 2001 "Pearl Harbor", 2009 "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and 2011 "Dark of the Moon". He has so far only won once, for his 2009 "Transformers".

The Razzies "winners" will be announced right before the Oscars on 21 February 2015, at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood.

The fourth "Transformers" opened in North American cinemas on 27 June last year. It collected USD13.5 million in Malaysia and USD8.5 million in Singapore, contributing to its worldwide gross of USD1 billion.

There will reportedly be a fifth instalment in the blockbuster franchise, but minus Michael Bay, who has directed all previous four films, helming the project.
