Triumphant success for "Triumph in the Skies"

"Triumph in the Skies" won hearts in Malaysia for Valentine's Day.

17 Feb – The Chinese romantic film "Triumph in the Skies" soars for the top spot at Malaysia's weekend box office chart for 12 to 15 February 2015 while the erotic romance "Fifty Shades of Grey" managed to whip the hearts of audiences in the U.S.

The highly controversial erotic romance based on the bestselling novel of the same name, has garned the biggest ever February opening of all-time as it raked in a total of USD94.4 million in its opening week in U.S.

Meanwhile, also making its debut last week was the spy action comedy "Kingsman: The Secret Service" who took second place with a weekend collection of USD42 million.

With the two newly released movies took up the first and second spot in U.S, "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" was pushed to third place as it grossed USD40 million.

Banned in Malaysia, "Fifty Shades of Grey" was a hot pick in U.S. for Valentine's.

As for Malaysia, the film adaptation of the famous Hong Kong series of the same name, "Triumph in the Skies" has soared to first place as audiences' top choice for the Valentine's weekend.

"Jupiter Ascending" who was first for the previous weekend, it now in second place, while Matthew Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service" places third in Malaysia.

To date the official box office standings for Singapore has not been confirmed, but "Fifty Shades of Grey", "Triumph in the Skies" and "Kingsman: The Secret Service" is expected to have dominated the charts with first, second and third place, respectively.

The new movies that opened last weekend in Malaysia are; "The Dream Boyz", "Gudang Kubur", "Somewhere Only We Know", "Roy" and "Anegan".
