14 Mar – Two upcoming "Star Wars" movies have been announced by Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger at a recent shareholder's meeting in San Francisco. One of the movies will be the first stand-alone "Star Wars" film, entitled "Rogue One", and the second movie will be the continuation to this year's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", according to StarWars.com. "Rogue One" is set to begin shooting this summer and is slated for release on 16 December 2016. Felicity Jones, recently Oscar-nominated for her role in "The Theory of Everything", has been cast to star in the upcoming film. Director Gareth Edwards will helm the project while Chris Weitz will pen the script.
"Star Wars VIII" will be continuing the saga after the events of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The film will be written and directed by "Looper" filmmaker, Rian Johnson. The release date for the film is set for 26 May 2017. In the meantime, fans can look forward to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", to rise in cinemas on 17 December 2015.
