8 Apr – "Ilo Ilo" actress Yeo Yann Yann recently confessed that she was apprehensive at first to accept the role of Baoling in the upcoming sex comedy, "Rubbers". "My first reaction was 'Maybe it's not for me!' I didn't want to do it at first," the Malaysian-born actress said, as quoted by Channel News Asia. "But he came to Malaysia to look for me," Yeo continued, referring to the movie's writer-director Han Yew Kwang. "He filmed a short segment with me and used it as material for a pitch. That was just about three months after I gave birth to my daughter (in 2012)."
Han convinced her to join the project, which would start filming about a year after the actress gave birth. Despite not being in the best condition to do the movie, even losing her voice on the last two days of filming and she had to come back for dubbing afterward, Yeo managed to finish her scenes. When asked about the toughest part of filming the raunchy movie, Yeo's reply was, "trying to appear as natural as possible when playing the awkward Baoling." Yeo's character, Baoling, is a 40-year-old solitary woman with a condom named Durian as her imaginary friend. Baoling's attempt to seduce her plumber, Thor, is one of the three storylines connected by the central theme of condoms featured in the first locally-produced Singaporean R21 sex comedy. "Rubbers" slips into Singaporean cinemas this 30 April.
