28 Nov – Bestselling author Anne Rice revealed yesterday in a Facebook post that she re-acquired the rights of "Vampire Chronicles" and is now developing a TV series out of it. Rice posted on her Facebook, "The theatrical rights to the Vampire Chronicles are once again in my hands, free and clear! I could not be more excited about this." "A television series of the highest quality is now my dream for Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and the entire tribe," added Anne. Known for her spell-binding vampire stories, the author had previously stated that the book will be adapted into a film in partnership with Universal Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and Brian Gaze. But as explained by Anne in her posting, the talks of it being a movie had not worked out well and she strongly feels that TV is where the vampires belong. The author who had sold more than 100 million copies of her books also reiterated that long before the movie adaptations came out, the book was already a success, all thanks to the fans. Now she's merely returning the favour by giving the fans what they wished for all this while. She wrote "You, the readers, made these books a success before any movie was ever made based on them, and I will never forget that fact." Adding that she would remain totally in control over the series, the writer also added that it would be very much like a "Game of Thrones" style faithful rendering of the source material. Anne Rice is a famous gothic fiction writer who wrote best-sellers like "The Vampire Chronicles", "The Witching Hour" and "The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned" among others. Her first novel to be adapted into a film came out in 1994 with a young Kirsten Dunst, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise as the leads.
