Gender-flip spinoff for "Bad Moms"

"Bad Moms" gives birth to spinoff, "Bad Dads".

12 Oct – Released in July this year, the raunchy comedy "Bad Moms" starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn was a surprise hit in the crowded summer movie season with nearly USD180 million at the box office worldwide.

It was a huge success, considering the movie only cost US$20 million to make. Not to mention it helped reap mass profits for the US-China production company of STX Entertainment.

Given the fact that movies like "Bad Moms" is cheap to make, it will be inevitable to see the studio cooking up an idea for a possible sequel.

Well, that turns out to be true except it won't be a traditional sequel but more of a spinoff.

The title? "Bad Dads".

"STX has chosen to focus on extending consumer passion for the "Bad Moms" brand with a series of film spinoffs, a reality television show, short form digital content, and a robust consumer products program," said STX when speaking to Deadline about their plans.

No words yet on whether Scott Moore and Jon Lucas will be back to write and direct the spinoff, though the possibility is there since the duo was also responsible for the 2009's "The Hangover" script, which reached enough success to spawn two sequels.

"Bad Dads" is currently slated to hit North American cinemas on 14 July 2017.
