"Bajirao Mastani" conquers all the awards!

The Zee Cine Awards 2016 was a grand affair honouring the best of Bollywood.

14 Mar - First it was one, then there were two, and by the end of the night, "Bajirao Mastani" managed to win 11 awards at the Zee Cine Awards 2016.

Cinema Online was present at the grand Bollywood film awards ceremony held at the Reliance Jio Gardens in Mumbai to witness the romance epic by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali take home some of the highest honours of the night, including Best Film and Best Director.

Ranveer Singh's performance at the Zee Cine Awards 2016, played tribute to his film "Bajirao Mastani".

Lead actor Ranveer Singh also took home the Best Actor award for his role in "Bajirao Mastani", but that honour was also shared with veteran Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan for his role in "Piku".

Ranveer's co-star and also his girlfriend in real-life, Deepika Padukone won the Best Actress award for her role in "Piku", but the actress who was twice nominated that night for Best Actress (also for "Bajirao Mastani"), was not present during the ceremony as she was shooting the Hollywood film "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" alongside Vin Diesel.

Hosts Karan Johar and Shahid Kapoor couldn't stop bantering with each other on stage!

Hosted by actor Shahid Kapoor ("Haider") and filmmaker-host Karan Johar, the duo made quite a hilarious pair on stage as they kept making jokes at each other's expense and also at Ranveer Singh who had to keep coming up to the stage to collect the awards for his "Bajirao Mastani" team.

Joked Karan Johar, "This awards night has turned into a 'Ranveer Singh' night! Ranveer, I think you should just remain standing on stage for the rest of the night."

Although the actor returned to his seat eventually, he then came back on stage with a blast to perform a high-energy performance with medley of songs from his hit film, "Bajirao Mastani", obviously.

Huge Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Nana Patekar, Kajol and Anil Kapoor also graced the ceremony much later, with Kapoor the recipient of the International Icon of the Year award delivering a surprise dance sequence on stage comprising of a mash-up of popular songs including his iconic dance number from his 1989 film "Ram Lakhan"!

A very colourful Bollywood worthy performance by veteran star, Anil Kapoor.
