21 Nov – Renowned Hollywood director, James Wan is set to produce the new "Mortal Kombat" reboot. Wan will be producing the movie, but the pressure to deliver will however be on newbie director Simon McQuoid who will be debuting as a big screen director with this action flick, reports Variety. Simon McQuoid, relatively a new name in the industry, is one of the hottest properties in the ad directing field as he had previously worked with well-known brands such as PlayStation, Halo, Range Rover and Beats by Dre among others. The very first adaptation of the action game was released in 1995 where it became a box-office hit and following that a sequel titled "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" was released in 2015. The sequel however failed at the box-office which prompted producers to scrape all plans for future releases until now. The latest version of the film is set to follow the story of a male protagonist who's drawn into an interdimensional tournament who then realises his true potential as a result of the experience. With James Wan assuring the movie would not be rushed and would be given enough time to develop a proper script, fans can certainly hope for a jaw-dropping action film that will bring nostalgic memories of the 90's videogame.
