Justin Lin directs LeBron James in a major sequel

Justin Lin (L) and LeBron James are working together for "Space Jam 2".

3 May – Previously there had been talks of a sequel in the making for 1996 live-action/animated movie "Space Jam", but now it has recently been confirmed that the project has hit nothing but hoops.

Director Justin Lin has been netted in to not only write the script, but also direct "Space Jam 2", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The director will be working with professional basketball player, LeBron James, who has been confirmed to shoot some hoops on the big screen for the sequel.

The NBA MVP previously appeared in Amy Schumer and Judd Apatows' comedy movie, "Trainwreck", and received rave reviews for his portrayal of an altered version of himself. His starring role in the upcoming basketball-themed movie is definitely highly anticipated.

As for Lin, his directing resume includes helming TV series, "Community", as well as the third to sixth instalments of the popular "Fast and Furious" franchise.

The great combo just might lead to an even bigger success than the original movie, which starred former NBA star Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes cartoon characters, and earned a total of USD230.4 million at the box office.

Lin's upcoming movie is "Star Trek Beyond", the third movie in the "Star Trek" movie series, set to beam into cinemas on 21 July 2016.
