"Secret Life of Pets" unleashes sequel

Who's ready to watch more "Secret Life of Pets"?

3 Aug – Here's a nice treat for "Secret Life of Pets" fans, in just a couple of years, you'll be able to catch the sequel in cinemas!

The animated movie is unleashing its follow-up in 2018, according to USA Today, or more specifically 13 July 2018 in North America.

It is unclear whether the cast from the first movie, which includes Louis C.K., Kevin Hart, Jenny Slate and more, will be coming back to lend their voices to the adorable pets once again. Chris Renaud will return as director, however, so will Brian Lynch ("Minions") as writer.

Universal and Illumination Entertainment are barking up the right tree with this one, it seems, as the movie featuring animated talking animals proofed to be one of the studios' best productions.

It fetched USD104.4million on its opening weekend, making it the best opening for an original movie when it was released in the U.S. in early July. It also stayed at the top of the box office chart for two weekends.

So far, it has grossed USD403.3 million worldwide, and it hasn't even been released in all markets yet.

Prior to opening in the U.S., the movie was first released in markets such as UK and Hong Kong back in June, followed by the likes of Canada and Cambodia in July.

It has yet to be released in Singapore and Malaysia, with the former getting it this 1 Sep and the latter 8 September.
