"Star Wars" spin-off set to be reshot

"Star Wars: Rogue One" will go through another four weeks of shooting.

1 Jun – With the success of last year's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", it is understandable that the franchise producers will want only the best material to follow up next.

This high expectation of standard and quality has prompted execs and producers to ask for the upcoming first "Star Wars" spin-off, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", to be reshot, according to Deadline.

Despite previous reports saying that the reshoot decision was made after poor test screenings, recent update revealed that the movie was never screened to audiences.

Only the studio's higher-ups have seen the first cut of the movie, which was reportedly "lacking the edge" which the last "Star Wars" instalment had.

According to The Week, the movie will now spend another four weeks undergoing reshoots in July.

However, fans rest assured, the reshooting will not affect the original release date, "Star Wars: Rogue One" is still scheduled to open worldwide this year end.

Based on Box Office Mojo stats, 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" collected USD2.067 billion globally, making it the third highest-grossing movie of all time after "Titanic" (USD2.187 billion) and "Avatar" (USD2.7888).

So yes, "Star Wars: Rogue One" will have some very big shoes to fill come 15 December 2016.
