12 Feb – Looks like Jack Neo's "Long Long Time Ago" is getting some competition at the local box office in the form of Aaron Kwok-starrer, "The Monkey King 2". The sequel to 2014's "The Monkey King" has reached SGD1 million in Singapore, all within a week of its release. The action fantasy movie opened in the cinemas on 5 February, grossing SGD836,000 during the long weekend of the Chinese New Year holidays. It is gearing to be the top Chinese New Year release at the local box office if it is able to surpass the collection of the nostalgic-themed "Long Long Time Ago", which has reached SGD1.65 million since its 4 February release. "The Monkey King 2", also starring the likes of Gong Li, Feng Shaofeng, Xiao Shenyang and more, tells the story of Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, as he battles the Skeleton Demon named Baigujing.
