Song Joong Ki, Lee Min Ho to board "Train to Busan 2"?

Who will be taking over Gong Yoo's role as the male lead?

20 Oct – With the massive success of "Train to Busan" globally, both the cast and audiences are looking forward to its upcoming sequel.

Latest development heard through the grapevine claimed that two A-List Korean actors are up for the lead role in "Train to Busan 2", and they are none other than Song Joong Ki and Lee Min Ho.

However, according to Parent Herald, the rumour has been shot down by distribution company Next Entertainment World (NEW), who stated that it was "unfounded rumor".

"There isn't anything coming in and out yet on what kind of story "Train to Busan 2" is about," NEW added.

It was previously rumoured that Song, who is best known for starring in the popular drama series "Descendants of the Sun", would be the lead character for the sequel and would be bringing a cure to the zombie infested land.

No word though on how Lee, who was most recently seen starring in the Korean-Chinese co-production "Bounty Hunter", would fit in in the new scenario.

"Train to Busan", released in countries such as Malaysia and Cambodia in September, went on to become the biggest Korean movie in aforementioned countries, collecting RM21 million at Malaysia's box office and USD183,000 at Cambodia's box office. It was also the highest-grossing Korean movie in Singapore, becoming the first Korean movie to cross the SGD1 million mark in the country.

"Train to Busan" most recently won Best Director and Best Visual Effect at the 49th Sitges Film Festival in Spain.
