Volunteers needed for Singapore's Earth Film Festival

1 Mar – Here's a fun and unique way to celebrate Earth Week, happening this April – catch some environmental themed movies at Singapore's very own Earth Film Festival.

Touted as the world's first crowd-based film festival, it allows people to host private screenings of the documentary movies for friends and family at venues picked by the hosts themselves.

Anyone keen on being one of the hosts can head over to Earth Fest Singapore's website and register there.

There will be a selection of six movies, each touches on the environmental issues plaguing the modern world, such as the effects that cattle has on the environment, the pollution tainting beautiful locations around the world and the haze problem in Southeast Asia (a Channel NewAsia production).

The movies are:
- "Home" (2009)
- "Green" (2011)
- "Trashed" (2012)
- "Cotton Road" (2014)
- "Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret" (2014)
- "Get Real: Heart of the Haze" (2015)

Since these are private screenings, no halls or cinemas can be rented out. Ideally, it is suggested to be hosted at home or any other private space. No physical DVDs will be provided, so hosts are required to be able to play the digital formats of the movies.

The festival aims to encourage people to discuss environmental issues with their friends and family, as the documentaries are great for inspiration, and the private gathering will allow for conversations to naturally flow.

Earth Film Festival screenings will take place from 17 to 24 April 2016.
