Wong Kar Wai to helm Gucci biopic

Wong Kar Wai is replacing Ridley Scott to direct the "Gucci" movie.

18 Nov – Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai is set to helm a new film project about the murder of Maurizio Gucci, grandson of Guccio Gucci, the founder of The Fashion House of Gucci.

According to SCMP News, the movie was originally set to be directed by English filmmaker Ridley Scott and star Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie.

However, with "The Grandmaster" creator in the director's seat, rumour has it that "Suicide Squad" star Margot Robbie will now play the murderous ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani.

Maurizio Gucci, son of Rodolfo Gucci and grandson of Guccio, was the former head of the Fashion House of Gucci who sold his stock in 1993 for USD170 million to Bahrain-based investment group, Investcorp.

He was gunned down in 1995 by a hitman who was later revealed to have been arranged by his ex-wife.

The movie will be produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures.
