1 Jul – 2012 3D-animated fantasy comedy movie, "Wreck It Ralph", is levelling up – to "Wreck It Ralph 2"! The upcoming sequel will no longer be confined to the arcades, however. Disney has revealed that this time Ralph will be wrecking the internet. "It will take place in current day. It'll be just like the first one," said director Rich Moore in an interview with Collider. "So it will be exactly four years, or no, six years after the first "Wreck-It Ralph". The current day timeline." Moore, who will be returning to direct, has confirmed that main characters Ralph and Vanellope will also be coming back for the sequel. He shared that he had been working on the second movie for almost two and a half years before taking a little break to work on "Zootopia" instead. This time around, he will be co-directing with Phil Johnston, writer from the original "Wreck-It Ralph" and co-writer on "Zootopia". The Oscar-nominated "Wreck-It Ralph" was a critical and commercial success, earning USD471.2 million worldwide against its USD165 million production budget. "Wreck It Ralph 2" plans to wreck the internet on 9 March 2018, taking up the slot previously occupied by another Disney animation, "Gigantic", which is now pushed back to 21 November 2018.
