"Dangal" is the 5th highest grossing non-English movie

India's "Dangal" makes international history.

14 Jun – This week, the Hindi Aamir Khan starrer, "Dangal" has officially become the fifth non-English film in history to gross over USD300 million in the worldwide box office, a milestone that was only ever reached by four other non-English movies before it.

According to Forbes, over the weekend,"Dangal" had earned over USD301 million (INR1930 crore) in global ticket sales, which is USD38 million ahead of this year's epic "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion"

China is a key contributor at USD179.8 million, and the movie is currently still playing in that country.

The international non-English high grossers to have come before "Dangal" are China's "The Mermaid" (grossed over USD553 million), France's "Intouchables" (grossed over USD427 million), China's "Monster Hunt" (grossed over USD386 million) and Japan's "Your Name" (grossed over USD354 million).

In addition, "Dangal" is also the first Indian film to gross over USD150 million in a single territory (China) and the biggest single-film payday for an Indian actor (Aamir Khan).

With hits like "Dangal" and "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" making international history one after another, you have to wonder what kind of quality movie will India churn out next.
