8 Sep – Fox has tapped the creator of Netflix's "Daredevil" and "The Martian" Drew Goddard to write and direct "Deadpool" spinoff movie, "X-Force". The film, which follows Deadpool and Cable leading a Black Ops force made of ruthless mutant warriors, will have "X-Men" franchise shepherd Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shulder Donner and Ryan Reynolds a.k.a. Mr. Deadpool himself producing the feature, according to Deadline. A derivation of "New Mutants", which is the first "X-Men" spinoff that was launched in the early 1990s, "X-Force" was co-created by Rob Liefeld who also co-created "Deadpool".
With Deadpool and Cable (played by Josh Brolin in "Deadpool 2") being the centrepieces in the upcoming movie, words have also emerged claiming that Zazie Beetz's Domino might also be making an appearance in it. Goddard is directing "Bad Times at the El Royale" next, starring Jeff Bridges and Chris Hemsworth, and will dive straight into "X-Force" once the former has completed production. He has also received an Academy Award nomination for his work in "The Martian", a film which was adapted from the same-titled Andy Weir novel. Fans can expect multiple X-Men films coming their way next year with the release of the spinoff "X-Men: New Mutants" by "The Fault in Our Stars'" Josh Boone in April, David Leitch's "Deadpool 2" in June, and the Simon Kinberg-directed "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" in November.
