Johnny Depp's next comedic role is 'the anti-virus king'


Johnny Depp in the latest "Pirates Of The Caribbean" instalment, "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge".

15 May – Johnny Depp is ready for his next comedic role – an antivirus software creator in the upcoming film, "King of the Jungle".

The film is a dark comedy based on a Wired article, "John McAfee's Last Stand", written by Joshua Davis, according to Deadline.

John McAfee, who Depp will be playing in "King of The Jungle", is the tech magnate creator of the McAfee Antivirus software and founder of McAfee Associates. After making a fortune, he moved to the jungle in Belize and proceeded to live out his life however he wanted.

The film will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszweski.

Dawn Ostroff, Jeremy Steckler and Charlie Gogolak, along with the directors and writer Joshua Davis, will produce it. Marc Butan and Joshuah Bearman will act as executive producers.

IMR International will be handling the film's foreign sales while CAA, the agency representing Depp, will be in charge of domestic rights at the Cannes Film Festival.

"King of The Jungle" has joined IMR's Cannes line-up, which also includes "The Sister Brothers", "Freak Shift" and "Dumplin'".

In the meantime, catch Johnny Depp as the swashbuckling pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, in Disney's "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge", coming out this 25 May.
