10 Apr – Watch out world, another film based on a Disney theme park attraction is coming our way!
Actually, the Jungle Cruise-based film has been planned since 2006, but the project has gone through multiple script rewrites and changes – and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest version of the script was written by J.D Payne and Patrick McKay.
With the chosen star of the film, Dwayne Johnson, being one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, it's no wonder that they've put it off for so long.
Johnson had signed on to star in the movie since 2015, but the project has been stuck in the pre-production phase for a while and the man just doesn't seem to have the time.
Yet, Johnson was somehow able to squeeze in "Jungle Cruise" into his schedule, and it has been officially reported to start filming during spring 2018.
While the plot to the film is still a mystery, the ride it is based on takes riders on a journey through a range of leafy settings and a variety of rain forest locales, from the Nile and Congo rivers South America's Amazon and more, so we presume that the film version will be an action-adventure tale.
Maybe something like his 2012 film, "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island"?

Since 2015, Johnson has filmed movies like "Fast And Furious 7", "San Andreas", "Central Intelligence" and "Moana", and some that are not yet released, such as "Fast And Furious 8", "Baywatch" and "Jumanji".
And soon, he'll start filming for "Rampage", Skyscraper", "Shazam!", "Doc Savage" and not to mention the upcoming season of the TV series, "Ballers".
One has to wonder how the superstar finds the time to relax, if he ever does.
"Jungle Cruise" will be produced by Johnson himself and his co-CEO, Dany Garcia, through their shared production company, Seven Bucks, while the search for a suitable director is still underway.
So, until then, we're just going to have to be patient and satisfy our need for Dwayne Johnson with his next on-screen role in "Fast And Furious 8".
