French Film Festival opens in Singapore on 9 November

Influential filmmaker Cédric Klapisch's "Back to Burgundy" is among the films
that will be showcased at the festival.

8 Nov – Get to know the country of romance through the return of the annual French Film Festival.

Opening in Singapore this 9 November, this year's screenings feature 16 of the country's finest movies, ranging from tummy-tickling comedies, soul-stirring dramas, fantasy thrillers and inspirational biographical film.

Acclaimed Singaporean filmmaker Boo Junfeng is also named as the festival's Guest of Honor, with his "The Apprentice" earning international praises at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

"I have experienced first-hand the French audience's love for movies from everywhere and I have always wished that more people at home in Singapore would also have access to a diverse range of films," Boo said.

"I am therefore very pleased to be a part of this year's French Film Festival. Its impressive line-up is wide-ranging and has something to offer for everyone."

The 33-year-old director revealed his top picks for this year's movie line-up – the heart-warming tale by influential filmmaker Cédric Klapisch "Back to Burgundy", sci-fi thriller "Alone" adapted from the popular same-titled French comic book series, and "From the Land of the Moon" starring Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard,

The French Film Festival 2017 will be held from 9 till 19 November at Shaw Theaters Lido, Alliance Française and The Projector.
