Huge role awaits Woody Harrelson in "Star Wars" spinoff

Woody Harrelson is up for an important role in the upcoming Han Solo spinoff.

4 Jan – "Now You See Me 2" star, Woody Harrelson, may soon find himself playing a significant part in the "Star Wars" universe.

The 55-year-old is currently being eyed to play a mentor to Han Solo in the upcoming standalone spinoff centered on the smuggler-turned-hero, according to Variety.

Harrelson is no stranger when it comes to playing mentors to heroes, as he did previously starred in "The Hunger Games" franchise as Haymitch Abernathy, the mentor to protagonist Katniss Everdeen.

If Harrelson were to accept the role, this time around he would be mentoring the young Han Solo, portrayed by "Hail, Caesar!" actor, Alden Ehrenreich.

The movie will be helmed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord ("The Lego Movie", "21 Jump Street", "22 Jump Street") and will also star Donald Glover ("The Martian", "Spider-Man: Homecoming") and Emilia Clarke ("Terminator Genisys", "Me Before You").

It will have big shoes to fill; apart from the fact that it is after all part of the popular "Star Wars" franchise, it will also be following up "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", which has so far made more than USD800 million worldwide since its December 2016 release.

While we wait for confirmation on Harrelson's involvement in the Han Solo movie, he can be seen on the big screen in this year's "War for the Planet of the Apes".
