24 Aug – Fans just can't get enough of the villainous lovers in "Suicide Squad" and the makers are more than happy to give back the love. Warner Bros. is currently developing an untitled movie centring on Joker and Harley Quinn with "Crazy Stupid, Love" filmmakers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa in final talks to direct it, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jared Leto and Margot Robbie will be reprising their roles as Joker and Harley Quinn, respectively, which they first played in 2016's "Suicide Squad".
Different from the recently unveiled standalone Joker origin movie, the Joker-Harley Quinn film is said to fit into Warner Bros.' main line of movies based on their DC properties, given the reprisal of Leto and Robbie's roles. Fans anticipating the female-centric "Suicide Squad" spinoff, "Gotham City Sirens", might be in for disappointment as Deadline suggests that this new movie will supersede it since David Ayer, the attached helmer of the spinoff, is no longer on board. Having previously written and directed "I Love You Phillip Morris" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love" which starred Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, Ficarra and Requa have also worked with Robbie for the 2015 heist movie "Focus" and 2016 war comedy "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot". The duo also executive-produced and directed episodes of NBC's "This is Us", which is for up nine Emmy Awards next month.
