26 Sep – Move aside "It", "Kingsman" is here for its spot on the throne. With a take in of SGD1.95 million over the weekend, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" has officially taken over the local box office, making it the current number one film in Singapore. The movie's excellent performance has also made it the local film industry's and FOX's all-time highest opening weekend for an NC16 film (movie restricted to those under the age of 16) in the country. Serving as the sequel to 2015's "Kingsman: The Secret Service", the new movie sees the return of young British spy Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and his mentor Harry (Colin Firth) as they team up with their American counterpart, the Statesman, to save the world. Loosely based on the comic book "The Secret Service", the follow-up directed by Matthew Vaughn includes the addition of high-profile cast members such as Channing Tatum, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges. Given its stellar grossing, it's no surprise that a third instalment is already being planned for the "Kingsman" franchise.
