3 Jun – Actor Stephen Merchant, who most recently played Caliban in "Logan", actually appeared in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" as the poor unfortunate soul called Monsieur Toilette. You have three guesses as to what object his character was turned into. Unfortunately, Monsieur Toilette's little screen time was cut out during editing and his character never appeared on the big screen. Fortunately, EW was able to procure the scenes with Monsieur Toilette and generously shared it with the rest of the internet. In the exclusive clip, Josh Gad's Le Fou tried to escape the villagers vs. furniture battle by hiding in the bathroom. There, Le Fou came face-to-bowl with the burbling surly Monsieur Toilette who had been turned into (you guessed it) a toilet bowl by the enchantress' curse. Though it is not clear exactly what happened during the confrontation, the look on Le Fou's face when he exited the bathroom says it all.
The deleted scene was even noted to be a cherished moment for Luke Evans, who portrayed the movie's antagonist Gaston, as he told Gad during an interview with People. "What I miss, which we shot and is not in the film, is you having a fight with the toilet," Evans said. There is also an additional clip that shows Le Fou reuniting with Monsieur Toilette after the curse was lifted that was also wiped from the final silver screen version. The "Beauty and the Beast" live action remake was a sensational box office hit, having made over USD1 billion not a month after its initial release and is now among the top ten highest grossing films of all time. Merchant's performance can be seen in the blu-ray release of the movie.
