"Pop Aye" earns accolade in Switzerland

"Pop Aye" earns another international accolade.

10 Oct – There's no wonder why Singapore picked Kirsten Tan's "Pop Aye" as its submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the upcoming Oscars, the movie just keeps on winning!

Most recently, the comedy drama has earned another international accolade, this time bagging the top prize at the prestigious Zurich Film Festival.

A post on the movie's official Facebook congratulated the director and her "Pop Aye" team on the movie's Golden Eye for Best International Feature Film win at the film festival held in Switzerland recently.

This is another feather in the director's cap, whose debut feature has also earlier this year won at the 2017 International Film Festival Rotterdam and made history by not only being the first Singaporean title to compete in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, but also the first to win in it.

Aside from her multi-award winning "Pop Aye", Tan has been busy with her Teochew-language short in Singapore's first ever dialect anthology film "667", which will be making its international premiere at the 2017 Busan International Film Festival that's happening from 12 to 21 October.
