"Wonder Woman" director already has plans for a sequel

What do you think of a "Wonder Woman" sequel?

5 Jun – Over the weekend, "Wonder Woman" has already smashed the box office not only as the most successful female-led comic book superhero movie ever, but also for having the biggest opening weekend for a female director at USD100.5 million.

This overwhelming response to the show of Girl Power has led director Patty Jenkins to thinking ahead and picturing what a "Wonder Woman" sequel would look like.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jenkins has revealed that should she be called back for a sequel, she would like to have the story set in the U.S.

"She's Wonder Woman. She's got to come to America. It's time," she said about the possible sequel.

"I'm not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it. Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you've created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now."

She added, "Then I realised that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It's a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love."

Jenkins has become quite close with Gal Gadot and the rest of the filmmaking team behind the movie.

Though Warner Bros. has declined to comment on any of its plans for the future of the franchise, "Wonder Woman 2" seems more than likely to happen, especially with the strong reception it received from fans and critics alike.

"Wonder Woman" was released last week and is still playing in cinemas.

Gal Gadot will next appear as Wonder Woman on 16 November in "Justice League Part One".
