26 May – It was announced yesterday that Warner Bros. has cancelled the London premiere of "Wonder Woman" following the Manchester attack earlier this week. Today, it seems like Universal is following their lead by cancelling their own London premiere of "The Mummy". "Our thoughts are with those affected by the recent tragedy in the UK. In light of the current situation, we will not be proceeding with our plans for the "Wonder Woman" premiere and junket activities in London," Warner Bros. said in statement.
And Universal's statement said: "All of us at Universal have been devastated by the terror attack in Manchester and continue to stand with the community and country as it recovers. Out of respect to those affected by this tragedy we have decided not to move forward with the London premiere for "The Mummy" scheduled to take place next week." The London premiere of "Wonder Woman" was to take place on 31 May while "The Mummy" was scheduled for 1 June, of which the stars and filmmakers of both movies were supposed to attend.
On 22 May 2017, a suicide bombing was carried out at Manchester Arena where American singer, Ariana Grande was holding a concert. 22 concert goers were killed in the blast and about 120 were injured of which 59 had to be taken to the hospital. A great deal of events and shows have been either delayed or outright cancelled in the following days, including the premiere of the two movies and Ariana Grande's European tour. On 23 May, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Theresa May raised the terrorism threat level from "severe" to "critical". So far, seven people connected to the attack have been arrested.
