"Avengers: Infinity War" first to cross SGD14 million in Singapore

While Thanos is busy collecting Stones, Marvel Studios is busy breaking records, the latest one set right here in Singapore.

16 May – "Avengers: Infinity War" continues to break box office records worldwide with Singapore being its newest achievement.

The comic book movie has surpassed the SGD14 million mark with its whopping SGD14.3 million collection at Singapore's box office, according to Business Insider Singapore, making it the highest-grossing movie in the country and the first to do so.

What is more impressive is that it happened in only two and a half weeks since its release in 25 April 2018.

Prior to this, the all-time movie record-holder was from the same franchise, with the original "The Avengers" grossing SGD 13.7 million and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" garnering SGD 13.1 million.

The revenue for "Avengers: Infinity War" is expected to increase considering it is only in its third week in Singaporean cinemas.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is Marvel Studios' 19th movie, which gathers all of its superheroes since the first "Iron Man" movie in 2008 to fight against the evil Thanos, who is on a mission to find all six Infinity Stones to cause chaos across the universe.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, "Avengers: Infinity War" would continue its story when the next "Avengers" movie comes out in 2019 and is expected to achieve the same, if not more, successes of its predecessor.
