25 Aug – The Hollywood version of "Death Note" is not dying anytime soon, as it's been revealed that Netflix is currently working on a sequel for it. Despite the less than lukewarm reception the 2017 live-action movie received even before its release on the streaming platform, The Hollywood Reporter brought the news that it is among the properties that Netflix is developing a sequel to. Greg Russo will be penning the script. Seeing that Russo was not part of the first movie's team, it raises the question whether anyone from the first movie will even return for the sequel. There's no word yet of Adam Wingard being back in the director's chair or of any of the stars reprising their roles, such as Nat Wolff as Light Turner / Kira, Lakeith Stanfield as L and Willem Dafoe as Ryuk. There's also no info yet on whether the movie will be a direct sequel or it will be a completely different story, using only the Death Note as the connection for the movies.
