"Alien: Covenant" director returns to TV with new sci-fi series

Ridley Scott is making his TV directorial debut in the U.S. with a TNT series.

9 Oct – Decades after he last helmed a TV series, director Ridley Scott is making a return to the small screen with a sci-fi themed series for TNT.

The English filmmaker will be directing "Raised by Wolves", according to the Hollywood Reporter, which follows two androids taking care of human children.

Set in an outer space colony on a mysterious, virgin planet, the androids find out that controlling the humans' belief is a treacherous job as the human colony divides over religious difference.

"I'm always searching for new frontiers in the sci-fi genre and have found a true original in "Raised by Wolves" - a wholly distinct and imaginative world, full of characters struggling with existential questions," said Scott.

The series, penned by Aaron Guzikowski ("Prisoners"), will also see Scott serving as executive producer under his Scott Free Productions banner.

This marks the first time the director will be helming a TV series in the U.S., his previous TV works had been British TV shows in the '60s.

Scott is, of course, the perfect man for the job since his sci-fi track record includes helming movies such as "Alien: Covenant", "The Martian", "Prometheus", "Blade Runner" and "Alien".
