27 Apr – The "Star Trek" franchise is making history by hiring a female director to helm its fourth movie.
S.J. Clarkson is set to board the Enterprise as a director, making her the first female to ever be attached to direct a "Star Trek" project, as reported by Variety.
Clarkson is a prolific TV director who has worked on Emmy Award winning series like "House", "Ugly Betty", and "Dexter" but her most recent works, "The Defenders" and "Jessica Jones" for Marvel Television, were what brought her to prominent status.
Plot details on "Star Trek 4" are still vague but reports say that the story will involve time travel and will have Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as George Samuel Kirk, Sr., who was last seen in 2009's "Star Trek" reboot.
