"The New Mutants", "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" delayed


Release dates for "The New Mutants" and "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" are delayed.

28 Mar – The release dates for two of 20th Century Fox's upcoming movies have been delayed.

The next instalment of the X-Men franchise, "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", and the franchise's upcoming horror spinoff, "The New Mutants", are delayed to next year due to major reasons for each of the movies, according to Collider.

"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" will be postponing its release from 2 November this year to 14 February 2019.


The film had a test screening recently to see how well the movie did story-wise, which resulted in the decision to undergo additional photography and reshoots to help strengthen the plot, hence, the reason for the delay.

Meanwhile, "The New Mutants" has been moved from 22 February 2019 to 2 August, the same year. It had previously moved from 13 April 2018 to the early 2019 date.

The spinoff also went through a test screen and reportedly the current version of the story is not scary enough.

It will also undergo reshoots to add in one or two new characters that have yet to be revealed.

While this is disappointing news for "X-Men" fans, fans of Freddie Mercury would be happy to know that his biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" has been given the new release date of 2 November 2018 in North America.

Fox has also moved "The Kid Who Would Be King" from 14 February 2019 to 1 March 2019, after removing "The Force" from the latter slot.
