15 Sep – Just last month, "Venom" director Ruben Fleischer and star Tom Hardy were saying they were unsure whether their movie will be R-rated or PG-13. Well, now we have the answer courtesy of Collider, who reported that the "Spider-Man" spinoff has been stamped with a PG-13 rating. This is sad news for fans who had been hoping that it would take the R-rated route ala "Deadpool" but it cannot be said that this was unexpected, for a couple of reasons. First, if it had been gunning for an R rating, it would've already revealed so during production, the way "Deadpool" did. As the aforementioned director and star demonstrated, being R-rated wasn't what the movie was really going for. Secondly, keeping it PG-13 means Venom can easily be integrated into upcoming "Spider-Man" movies as well as into the MCU. While no one's talked of throwing the Avengers and Venom together in a movie, at least the door's open for that idea since the latter wouldn't be too "hardcore" for the MCU.
