1 Aug – James Wan is returning to his horror roots. He's never left the horror universe, per se, he's just been more involved as producer than director lately. However, his next project will remedy that. The Malaysian-Australian horror auteur returns to the director's seat in his next movie, which he will work on before starting work on "Aquaman 2", according to Variety. When Cinemablend previously reported similar news back in June, many take it to mean the horror-infused spinoff of "Aquaman", called "The Trench". Even though at the time, Wan did say it will not be a DC movie. This latest news seems to confirm that it will indeed be a completely new horror movie unrelated to "Aquaman" as it will be another collaboration between Wan and New Line Cinema, the home of his "The Conjuring" movies and spinoffs, as well as for whom Wan is producing the "Mortal Kombat" reboot.
