13 Nov – Back in July, it was reported that singer-actor Harry Styles was in talks to play Ariel's love interest Prince Eric in the live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid", but that talk didn't last long and the search for the prince begun anew. Fast forward to a couple of months later, two actors were tested for the role at London's Pinewood Studios: Jonah Hauer-King, seen on the big screen this year in "A Dog's Way Home", and Cameron Cuffe, of TV series "Krypton" fame.
The 24-year-old British actor will be starring opposite Halle Bailey's titular mermaid, Ariel, in a cast that currently includes Melissa McCarthy as Ursula the evil sea witch, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder the fish and Awkwafina as Scuttle the seagull. Javier Bardem is circling the role of Ariel's father, King Triton. The Rob Marshall-directed movie is set to go into production in early 2020. Hauer-King, who is born and raised in London but holds a dual citizenship in the U.K. and the U.S., started acting since 2014. His works include small screen performances in "Little Women" and "World on Fire" and his first big screen appearance was in the 2017 British drama, "The Last Photograph".
