Spice Girls' animated movie is confirmed for big screen release

Spice Girls will be spicing up their fans' lives with a brand new movie.

13 Jun – Knowing that what their fans really, really want is a reunion of all five of them, Spice Girls is all set to deliver – albeit with animated versions of themselves.

Paramount Animation's latest release schedule confirms that the girl group's animated movie is in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The animation slate is eyeing two releases a year. Since the 2020 slots are already taken by "The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge" (May) and "Rumble" (July), which was previously titled "Monster on a Hill", it's quite likely that the Spice Girls movie will not open next year.

It could open in 2021, the likeliest date since the project is still in early development.

Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria says that they have been developing an idea that the girl group had and all five members "are very involved".

As first revealed by Variety last year, it will be a reunion for Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) and Victoria Beckham (Posh), who will reportedly be voicing superhero versions of themselves in the animated movie.

When it hits the big screen, get ready to sing along to Spice Girls' hits and get hooked on the new songs that will be featured in the movie.
