11 Feb - While "Roma" won the highly coveted Best Film award, it is "The Favourite" that was, well, largely everyone's favourite at the 71st British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
The recently concluded awards ceremony held at the Royal Albert Hall in London saw Alfonso Cuarón's "Roma" taking home three other wins: Best Editor and Best Cinematography for himself, as well as the Best Film Not in the English Language award.
However, it was Yorgos Lanthimos' "The Favourite" that walked away with the most wins. The period film received seven accolades, for Best Outstanding British Film, Best Leading Actress for Olivia Colman, Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz, Best Original Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design and Best Make Up and Hair.

Meanwhile, despite the controversy surrounding "Bohemian Rhapsody", with BAFTA suspending Bryan Singer's nomination for Best Director following the allegations of sexually abusing teenage boys made against him, the movie still managed to snag two awards, winning Best Sound and Best Leading Actor for Rami Malek.
"A Star Is Born", despite receiving as many nominations as the Queen biopic, only won one of the seven accolades it was nominated for, which is Best Original Music.
Martin Scorsese's film editor Thelma Schoonmaker was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship this year, while the efforts of husband-and-wife producing duo Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen were recognised with the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award.
Letitia Wright was named the EE Rising Star and her breakthrough film, "Black Panther", won Best Special Visual Effects.
