5 Mar – For a year plus now, Anne Hathaway has been the only name attached to star in the big screen adaptation of children's show "Sesame Street". However, looks like now she's finally got a friend in the live-action cast.

Collider brought word that Chance the Rapper, a.k.a. Chance Bennett, is in talks to join the musical film. His role has yet to be disclosed but chances are, he'll be in charge of the rapping parts.

This will not be his first stint involving "Sesame Street" since he did appear in an episode of the TV show back in January 2019.

Though he is more active in the music world, acting-wise he has appeared in 2018's horror comedy "Slice", played himself in last year's "Between Two Ferns: The Movie", and lent his voice to animated characters in 2019's "The Lion King" and the upcoming "Trolls World Tour". He's also done several musical guest appearances on shows like "Saturday Night Live".

Production on the movie is expected to begin in April 2020, following a nine-month delay due to Hathaway's other film commitments. Previously scheduled for release on 15 January 2021, it was pushed back to 4 June 2021, but was again moved to a different date.

"Sesame Street" will now be spelling and singing its way into North American cinemas on 14 January 2022.

Hathaway was first announced to star in the movie back in December 2018. Jonathan Krisel ("Portlandia") will be directing and Shawn Levy, who's been developing the project since 2012, will be producing. Warner Bros. and MGM are co-financing the movie.

The musical film follows history show host Sally Hawthorne (Hathaway) who works together with the "Sesame Street" characters (presumably Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster will be part of them) to prove that the eponymous street exists, after they were mysteriously expelled from their own neighborhood.
