13 May – Last year, it was announced that Roland Emmerich will be directing another movie that is set to be distributed by Lionsgate, this time in the form of a disaster thriller, and now a star is finally attached to lead it. Josh Gad, probably best known to kids as the voice of Olaf, has closed a deal to star in the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Called "Moonfall", penned by Emmerich himself along with his "2012" co-writers Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen, it tells of a ragtag team that is trying to land on the lunar surface and save humanity after the moon is knocked from its orbit and is sent on a collision course with Earth. Gad, the first of the ensemble cast to be revealed, will be playing an odd and unkempt genius named KC Houseman, whose prediction of the moon having fallen out of its orbit proves to be correct and now makes him one of the most important people in the high risk mission.
