10 Aug – James Wan has added another title to his long list of movies to produce. This time it is none other than a movie based on the action-packed 1980s series "Knight Rider".

The original series, which ran for four years, starred David Hasselhoff as protagonist Michael Knight.

While it was reported by Deadline that Wan will be producing under his Atomic Monster banner alongside Spyglass Media Group, it was not revealed whether Hasselhoff will be reprising his starring role.

Details are being kept under wrap right now. Reportedly, the plot will involve a modern day setting and "will maintain the anti-establishment tone of the original".

After the original series aired from 1982 to 1986, Hasselhoff did not return to lead the subsequent series "Team Knight Rider" (1997) and "Knight Rider" (2008). He did star in two TV films, though he was absent from the 2010 version.

Hasselhoff reprised his titular role in 1991's "Knight Rider 2000" and later in 2008's "Knight Rider". These two were not connected to each other but both were based on the original '80s series, just like the upcoming version from Wan.

Being one of his career-defining roles, Hasselhoff has spoken about making a big screen version or a TV reboot of Knight's adventures several times before.

Back in 2016, he said that he wanted a movie somewhere along the line of "Fast and Furious".

"There are so many people out there that will absolutely freak out and love it. It would be Michael Knight kind of coming out of retirement with his son and having adventures around the world, and doing a 'Fast and Furious' with the 'Knight Rider' car. How cool does that sound? How cool could it be?" he told Variety.

That was the same year that Justin Lin, who's helmed a few movies in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, was announced to be working on the series reboot.

Since Wan is also a fellow "Fast and Furious" director, Hasselhoff could possibly still make that wish of his come true.

Hasselhoff also previously spoken of James Gunn's "dark" reboot of the series for Netflix in 2017, after working with the director on "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". Just last year, he teased fans with the reboot again.

Whether it's with Wan, Lin, or Gunn, let's hope that Hasselhoff will get to play Knight again and possibly serve fans with either a dark or "Fast and Furious" (or both) version of a "Knight Rider" movie.
