4 Aug – Rumour has it that Akshay Kumar may be playing the lead in the Bollywood remake of the Tamil drama movie, "Soorarai Pottru".

A source recently stated that the original star Suriya and producer Guneet Monga, who also have the rights to the movie, are planning to go big with the project by casting Akshay in it, and that they have already brought the offer to Akshay.

"He has already given his verbal nod to the project and the team is waiting to lock in on the dates and other modalities," the source added.

Prior to Akshay, it was Shahid Kapoor who was the original choice for the Hindi version, but plans for such cooperation were scrapped after both parties failed to come to an agreement regarding the salary and profits share.

Shahid Kapoor was originally in talks to do the film

However, it is a wonder how and when Akshay will be able to do the movie, seeing that he has already been in talks for multiple films this year.

The original Tamil film, which was released in 2020, is partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath and based on the novel "Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey" by the said entrepreneur. The airline was India's first low-cost carrier. The movie co-stars Jackie Shroff, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Aparna Balamurali, and Vivek Prasanna among others.
