13 Aug – The Walt Disney Company announced that its streaming platform Disney+ is set to launch in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan in November.
Luke Kang, President, The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific stated, "The response towards Disney+ across Asia Pacific has exceeded our expectations, as consumers seek diverse entertainment content and are drawn to our portfolio of brands and franchises."
In addition, Disney+ Japan will also be expanded to feature additional general entertainment content in October 2021.
Although it has yet to reach South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the streaming service is currently available in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand - offering impressive selections of films and series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star, which includes a growing stable of local and regional content.
It has even become a leading SVOD (subscription video on demand) service in Malaysia.
More information on the launches in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as the expanded service in Japan will be available soon.
