"Ejen Ali" season 3 to be co-produced by Disney+ Hotstar

20 Oct - Primeworks Studios (PWS) and WAU Animation are set to be collaborating for the first time with the world's largest streaming platform, Disney+ Hotstar to produce the third season of the popular local animated series, "Ejen Ali".

The news was announced by Media Prima Television Network Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Nini Yusof, who stated that the project is a big achievement for both parties.


"We are very proud to have had the opportunity to be involved in Ejen Ali's journey since the beginning of production and now have entered into the first animation publishing joint venture agreement with Disney+ Hotstar which is one of the world's leading entertainment streaming platforms," she said. "As one of our business focuses is to support the development of the work of Malaysian animators to the global stage, we believe the widespread acceptance of Malaysian films and animation series proves the workforce like WAU Animation and their work is of very high quality."

Meanwhile, WAU Animation Chief Executive Officer and Director of "Ejen Ali", Usamah Zaid Yasin, said that he is very pleased that Disney+ Hotstar has agreed to co-produce the third season of "Ejen Ali".

"This collaboration is considered a dream come true for the staff of WAU Animation in an effort to introduce a Malaysian hero created according to the tastes and influences of local culture. Disney animated films inspire us a lot. We hope the emergence of Ejen Ali among Disney's iconic animated characters will inspire the next generation of Malaysian artists."

The upcoming third season, which will take place after the events of "Ejen Ali The Movie", is set to be released in 2022.

On the other hand, the said movie made RM30.05 million at the box office after its release in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia - making it the best-selling animated feature in Malaysia.
