13 Sep – Disney has recently confirmed that it will not treat Marvel's "Eternals" the same way as Scarlet Johansson's "Black Widow", i.e. the movie will be released in theatres first.

The news was revealed by Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, stating, "Following the tremendous box office success of our summer films which included five of the top eight domestic releases of the year, we are excited to update our theatrical plans for the remainder of 2021."

The upcoming film, helmed by Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao, will be one of the five titles that will have a 45-day exclusive run in theatres before turning up on Disney+, aside from "The Last Duel", "Ron's Gone Wrong", "West Side Story", and "The King's Man".

"Eternals" will be on Disney's streaming platform after its 45-day theatrical run

The change of plans might have been caused by two factors - the lawsuit filed by Scarlett Johansson over the hybrid release of "Black Widow" in theatres and Disney+, as well as the success of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" that made its premiere in theatres.

"Eternals" is set for release on 5 November.
