24 Feb – Sorry, fans of Groot. It looks like the beloved extraterrestrial tree creature will not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at least not James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy . The director, who helmed the first two "Guardians of the Galaxy" and is currently in earliest stages of developing volume three of the said superhero movie, shared as much during a Q&A session on his most recent Instagram Story - after a fan asked him about the return of Groot in his adult form.
He started as an adult in Vol.1 of the franchise, as the adorable Baby Groot in Vol.2, and later as an adolescent Groot in "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame". Although Gunn might have meant that his version of Groot has died, some also interpreted that a new adult Groot will not be connected to the one from the first movie. But at least, fans of the character will be able to watch him in the upcoming 2022's "I Am Groot" on Disney+, as well as the upcoming Disney+ entry, "Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" and 2022's "Thor: Love and Thunder". Let's just see what happens when "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3" comes out in 2023.
