2 Jul – How much money do you think you'd need to get yourself an authentic Indiana Jones' fedora? Well, according to a mysterious bidder, hundreds of thousands of dollars is the right amount.
The iconic hat from the said franchise was recently sold at USD 300,000 to a bidder during an auction, after it was estimated that it could nab between USD 150,000 to USD 250,000.
As described by the auction, "Created by Herbert Johnson Hat Company, who also did the hats for Raiders of the Lost Ark, the fedora was a slight update on the original film's version. Costume designer Anthony Powell and assistant costume designer Joanna Johnston worked closely with Herbert Johnson on the update that incorporated a more tapered crown than the prior film."
"The fedora is in excellent condition, showing light wear with some signs of age, and comes stored in a plastic hat box."
Despite its USD 300k price tag, it is noted that the original fedora, which was worn by Ford on the 1981 movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" sold more than USD 500,000 at an auction in 2015.
Hopefully the owner makes good use of the fedora, and by that we mean wear it in front of the mirror every morning before work and say, "You call THIS archaeology?"
Meanwhile, in other Indiana Jones news, the series' fifth instalment is currently filming in the UK.
