26 Jul – Good news to fans of "PUBG", it looks like there will be an animated series of the video game franchise. The news was confirmed by producer Adi Shankar, who expressed, ""As a player, I've been crushing the competition in the Battlegrounds since PUBG released in 2017. I'm grateful to Krafton for the trust and confidence they've placed in me to execute my vision as a filmmaker and I'm excited to embark on this journey together."
On the other hand, CH Kim, the CEO of Krafton Inc., stated that the company's partnership with Shankar represents a step into their broader strategy of expanding the PUBG Universe into a multimedia franchise. "We are excited to work with Shankar on exploring and realising a world that brings the game to life for our fans. We look forward to sharing more about this animated project in the near future," Kim added. Shankar's credits include Netflix's "Castlevania" animated series as well the "Bootleg Universe" shorts such as "The Punisher: Dirty Laundry" and "Power/Rangers". He is also attached to several other similar adaptations of video games including "Devil May Cry", "Assassin's Creed", and Hyper Light Drifter". PUBG, or "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds", has sold over 70 million copies on PC and console and billions of downloads on mobile since its launch in 2017, and winning multiple gaming awards as well as seven Guinness World Records.
